Upgrading Old GoldSim Model Files to Newer Versions of GoldSim
Files created using a later (newer) GoldSim version cannot be read in by earlier versions. However, files created using an older version can generally be read in by a newer GoldSim version, although, as discussed below, the conversion may require multiple steps.
It is strongly recommended that unless there is a need to maintain a model file in an old version (e.g., your client only has that version), you should upgrade your model to the latest version. This is because the latest version will have the greatest number of features, and will also have addressed any significant bugs that were identified in previous versions.
The document below describes the procedures for upgrading all major versions to the latest version.
Note that in some cases, for very old model files, the conversion may require several steps (e.g., convert to 9.21, then convert to 9.60, then convert to 10.50). This requires having multiple versions of GoldSim on one machine. If you have a standalone license, multiple versions of GoldSim can be installed and all will use the same license (as long as the oldest license is no older than 8.02). In order to facilitate file conversion, previous versions of GoldSim (going back to 8.02SP5) are available that can be installed parallel to each other on your machine (without requiring multiple licenses). As a general rule, however, if you are accessing a floating license, you should not use versions prior to Version 10 on one machine.
The instructions provided in the document below summarize the steps required to convert model files created in old
GoldSim versions to the latest version. If you have any questions or need any assistance with this process, contact us at

Note that these instructions only apply to models created in Version 8.02 or later. If you have a model file older than this, please contact us directly.
